Almost twenty years ago, Sinclair et al. (2006) argued that the value of eLearning was more than moving content online, but in using technology to create participatory learning environments. This suggests that faculty readiness and strategic alignment have not kept pace with the expansion of online learning. This gap between the growing demand and higher educational institutional preparedness provides a strong rationale for the following eLearning maturity audit.
